Abstract:
The Grandchildren of the Pioneers I, a collection of true episodes, was gleaned orally from various Nebraska residents. They were born during the 1910s, '20s, and '30s, and as toddlers they sat on the laps of the original pioneers. They saw the changes from horse-drawn buggies to cars and airplanes, from ankle-length skirts to much skimpier styles, and from raising all their own foods to supermarkets and fast-food vendors.

This book spans flapper days, the Great Depression, World War II, and the Blizzards of 1949, taking the grandchildren of the pioneers from babyhood to early adulthood.
